About Plumeria
Our Story
Plumeria Botanical Boutique was founded on September 15, 2015, when opportunity and a need for change brought owner and Certified Florist Elisha Mayes to Battle Creek.
After learning that a local flower shop was for sale, Elisha put her Grand Blanc home on the market and left the rest up to fate. One week later, she was moving to Battle Creek and making an offer on what would become Plumeria Botanical Boutique.
Elisha brought an unusual combination of creativity and business experience to the new venture. A graduate of Central Michigan University with a degree in 2D art, she approaches floral design with the trained eye of an artist. Her professional background in commercial banking gave her the business experience to turn that creative vision into a sustainable independent flower shop. She later earned her Certified Florist designation, further developing her knowledge of professional floral design, flowers, and plants.
From the beginning, Elisha wanted Plumeria to be different.
After studying the traditional florist business model, she began making changes—including moving away from the major floral wire services and focusing instead on original design, quality, personal service, and relationships within the community.
What began as one neighborhood flower shop has grown into two Battle Creek locations and a team serving the community with everyday flowers, sympathy and funeral designs, wedding and event florals, indoor plants, gifts, workshops, and more.
Through it all, Plumeria has remained independently owned and creatively driven. Our designs reflect the same philosophy that shaped the shop from the beginning: flowers should feel personal, thoughtful, artistic, and anything but ordinary.
We are incredibly grateful for the friends, families, customers, businesses, and organizations that have supported Plumeria over the years. Battle Creek gave our little flower shop a place to grow, and we’re proud to continue Helping Battle Creek Bloom.
